Hilton Head rental tips
- Rental options abound, from villas, hotels, condos to private homes. Do go through a vacation rental company to book your stay. The staff will be able to help you in selecting your perfect home.
- Public access to the beach on Hilton Head is limited to a handful of access points. Along the 12 miles of beach, access is often private. When selecting a vacation rental, do ask how far it is to the beach access.
- If you have a large group staying in the same vacation home, do ask about the number of washers, dryers and dishwashers. Having multiple dishwashers is quite handy!
- Do ask about the pool facilities. Is the pool private? Shared? What is the size of the pool (as photos are often misleading)?
- For big savings do check out the SPECIALS pages from rental companies. You may just find a good deal. Even if none is shown, do ask the rental companies directly for a discount.
- Do go during the off-season to save money. Rates differ dramatically between the height of the summer season and the off-season.
- Do ask how many roads you need to cross to get to the beach.
- If you are flexible and can wait 2-3 weeks prior to travel, then do ask for a discount. Most owners would much rather rent their house at a reduced rate rather than have an empty house for a week.
- Do ask about the number of available parking spots and its costs.
- Average yearly temperature of 70 degrees and 24 golf courses, some with the ocean as a backdrop, make Hilton Head a golfer's paradise. Do ask your vacation rental company for golf packages.
